Turning Concerns into Action
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society has been active in the parish for many years. Recently it has grown in its membership and we now number 12. We are happy to welcome new members, and can never have enough. We meet every three weeks on a Wednesday (although we understand people have busy lives and cannot attend every meeting) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
You may not know that you do not have to be a catholic to be a member but must be prepared to join in prayer and reflection at meetings. As well as always being available to offer assistance to anyone in need, emotionally, spiritually or economically the society exists for the spiritual development of its members.
We visit the sick and housebound, the lonely and the grieving. We take Holy Communion to those unable to come to church. We provide financial and other assistance where necessary as well as providing the costs for children to go to Summer Camp who would not otherwise get a holiday. We are always looking for those who would benefit from our support – regardless of their faith.
If you would like to join the SVP or know of anyone who would benefit from our assistance please contact Canon Firth or consult the notice-board at the back of church for more details.
